What conditions do you treat?
Our physical therapists treat a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, sciatica, headaches, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle pain, sports injuries, vertigo and balance problems, arthritis and recovery after surgery. We also offer pediatric therapy and pelvic health care.
See the full list on our What We Treat page.
What treatments do you offer?
Depending on your needs, your treatment plan may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, dry needling, blood flow restriction training, vestibular therapy, spinal decompression, kinesio taping and more. Learn more on our How We Treat page.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your condition, your goals and how your body responds to treatment. After your evaluation, your physical therapist will talk with you about a recommended plan and how progress will be measured along the way.
What should I wear to my appointments?
Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move easily and gives your physical therapist access to the area being treated. For example, shorts are helpful for knee or hip treatment and a loose-fitting shirt or tank top for shoulder or neck treatment. Athletic shoes are a good choice.
Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist?
In many cases, no. You may be able to see a physical therapist at Meier & Marsh Physical Therapy without first getting a referral from your physician. This is called direct access, and it can help you get your pain, injury or movement problem evaluated sooner.
Some situations still require a physician referral or additional medical evaluation, and some insurance plans have their own referral requirements. Contact our team and we will help you understand what applies to your care.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Depending on your situation, it helps to bring:
- Your completed new patient forms
- A photo ID
- Your insurance card, if you are using insurance
- A list of your current medications
- Physician information or referral paperwork, when applicable
- Any questions you want to ask your physical therapist
If you are not sure what you need, give us a call before your visit and we will help you come prepared.
What happens at my first visit?
Your first visit is all about understanding you. Your physical therapist will listen to your concerns, learn what you want to get back to doing and perform a thorough evaluation.
We use that information to find out what is limiting you and build a treatment plan that fits your needs and goals.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can request an appointment online and our team will contact you, or call the location most convenient for you. You can find phone numbers and addresses for all of our clinics on our Locations page.
Where are your clinics located?
Meier & Marsh Physical Therapy has four locations: West Valley City, Tooele – Main Street, Tooele – Northpointe and Grantsville, Utah. Visit our Locations page for addresses, phone numbers, hours and directions.
What insurance do you accept?
We work with many insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Coventry, First Health, Humana, Medicaid, Medicare, PHCS, Tricare, United Healthcare, ASH, Teamsters, motor vehicle accident (MVA) insurance and workers’ compensation. We also offer cash pay / self pay and accept CareCredit.
If you do not see your plan listed, please give us a call.
Will you check my insurance benefits before my first visit?
Yes. We make every effort to verify your insurance benefits before your first visit. Keep in mind that your insurance company determines your benefits and decides how claims are processed.
What should I ask my insurance company about physical therapy coverage?
Coverage varies by plan. Before you begin treatment, it can help to ask:
- Is physical therapy covered under my plan?
- Do I need a physician referral?
- Do I have a deductible?
- What is my copay or coinsurance?
- Is there a limit on physical therapy visits?
- Does my plan require prior authorization?
Our team is happy to help you understand the next steps.
